The Wasamac team is currently carrying out drilling works on the Wasamac property as part of the first phase of the Exploration Program, which started in March 2021. The exploration work aims to learn more about the geological features of the deposit in order to better plan the Wasamac underground mining project and determine its feasibility and potential lifespan. Extension exploratory drilling also took place in the Wildcat zone located approximately 500m south of Rang des Cavaliers. The Wildcat area is not part of Wasamac's current reserves and resources.

Exploration work is carried out by RJLL, a company based in Rouyn-Noranda. RJLL holds ECOLOGO certification, which recognizes mining exploration companies for applying the best environmental, social and economic practices, to which Agnico Eagle adheres. A series of innovative mitigation measures have been developed and are being implemented by experts to minimize the impact of our activities on the soundscape. You can find examples of these measures in these two videos (subtitles in English):

As part of the environmental study, other drilling works are also currently taking place in order to carry out geotechnical surveys and improve our knowledge of the soils in the area. Our team has already informed and made an agreement with the owners of land where work is planned. The team has also collected their suggestions and comments so that they can be considered as we finalize an agreement guide. The guide lists the conditions under which drilling activities will be carried out, along with planned coexistence measures.

The dates of the exploration program were specified in a notice sent to the City of Rouyn-Noranda on February 19, 2021. That notice is posted on this platform. The right column presents the list of drilling activities in progress, their location and their approximate duration. For information purposes, the total of the drillings aimed at knowing the geological characteristics of the deposit carried out in 2021 was 21,649 meters in 31 drill holes and the total of the exploratory drillings was 7,291 m in 22 drillings.

Based on comments received, we will ensure that we make any changes required to rectify a situation. Our team is committed to being attentive to citizens’ concerns and adjusting our practices to field observations whenever possible.

Vicinity residents will be able to voice their concerns and comments quickly and easily via the contact information below.

Your collaboration is invaluable in helping us improve our practices. We invite you to send us comments or observations about the exploration work, or to ask any questions you might have.

Please include as much detail as possible with your observations: type of event, day, time of day, frequency, etc. We will work to identify the probable causes of the event, find a solution, and get back to you as promptly as we can.
