Summary of the Monitoring Committee Meeting of May 13, 2026

The third meeting of the Wasamac Project Monitoring Committee was held on May 13, 2026, in Arntfield. Its main objectives were to review the progress of the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA), continue discussions on the Good Neighbor Guide, and follow up on reports.

A significant portion of the meeting was devoted to presenting the project’s progress and the preliminary timeline. The submission of the ESIA is still scheduled for fall 2026, and several discussions helped clarify the upcoming steps, including the regulatory review process and the next phases of the project.

The work currently underway as part of the technical studies was also presented. Fieldwork is planned to better document soil conditions and refine the assessment of potential impacts, particularly in the Rang des Cavaliers area.

Members continued discussions on the Good Neighborhood Guide. Several topics were addressed, including:

• Environmental monitoring programs
• The claims process in the event of damage
• Dispute resolution mechanisms

It was noted that the guide is a living document that will be refined following consultations with the neighborhood.

The meeting provided an opportunity to outline the next steps related to this guide, including consultation activities planned for the summer, discussions with local residents, followed by the drafting of an implementation version in the fall.

Discussions took place regarding upcoming community activities and planned work at the site. No reports have been received since the last meeting, but it was reiterated that the mechanism remains in place to address any community concerns.

The next meeting of the Monitoring Committee will take place on June 10, 2026, in Arntfield.
