The Yamana Gold team and its partners will be carrying out various works in November and December.

As usual, the crews are taking every possible measure to minimize disruptive impacts on the neighbourhood.

    Access road construction

Construction of the access road to the site from chemin Aldermac is underway.

    Power line

The dismantling of the 25KV power line on rang des Cavaliers should begin the week of November 2. Originally intended to serve the old Richmont project, the line was never used and will be repurposed for the Wasamac underground mining project.

Increase in truck traffic near the Francoeur site

We should be seeing a slight increase in truck traffic near the Francoeur site in December. We estimate some 10 trucks per hour, between 7:00 AM and 5:30 PM, using avenue Provencher from chemin Aldermac, in connection with construction of the access road to the planned industrial site. The company in charge of building the access road is Agrégat R-N.

The Wasamac underground mining project team will provide regular updates to residents in the vicinity of the work and will be available at all times to answer any questions.

On November 8, 2022, Yamana Gold confirmed the activation of the arrangement agreement with Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. (Agnico) and Pan American Silver, and at the same time announced the termination of the pending transaction with Gold Fields.

Pursuant to the announcement, the shareholders’ vote scheduled to be held on November 21 has been cancelled and Yamana Gold will pay a termination fee of US$300 million to Gold Fields, in accordance with the terms of the arrangement agreement with that company.

The board of directors of Yamana Gold has unanimously determined in good faith, after consultation with its outside financial and legal advisors, and upon the unanimous recommendation of the special committee of independent directors of the Board, that the Agnico - Pan American Transaction is a “Yamana Superior Proposal” in accordance with the terms of Gold Fields Arrangement Agreement. As a result, the Canadian Malartic Partnership and the Wasamac Underground Mining Project would be fully owned by Agnico Eagle.

A copy of the press release issued on November 8, 2022 is available for viewing on the Company's website at http://www.yamana.com and under the Company's profile on SEDAR (www.sedar.com).

The collection of samples aimed at characterizing the sediments planned for the end of February on Lac Hélène as part of the environmental impact study is postponed to springtime, after the melting of the ice on the lake.

Adverse weather conditions did not allow the exercise to be carried out safely, so we decided to postpone it.

As a reminder, the WSP team, the firm responsible for carrying out the environmental impact study, will review existing data on the lake's hydrology by taking surface water samples. They will also conduct a hydrological assessment to establish current conditions as well as predictive simulations to ascertain the potential impacts of the future mine on the lake's water level – a point raised by area residents. At this time, the potential impacts are estimated to be minimal.

This exercise should not create a disturbance in the natural environment or for people living near the lake.

Area residents will be notified once the new dates for the work are known.

Should you have any questions regarding this work, please do not hesitate to contact us by phone at 1 833 510-0330 or via E-mail: wasamac@yamana.com

As part of the environmental impact assessment, samples aimed at analyzing lake sediments will be taken on Lac Hélène between February 28 and March 3.

The work will involve taking a maximum of eight samples from four different stations – no more than two samples per station – using a vibracorer placed directly on the lake ice.

Figure 1 shows the location of the proposed stations. In the event of a problem, such as inadequate ice conditions at a particular location, the station could be relocated nearby.

Residents of the Évain sector told us that they observed a fluctuation in the water level of Lac Hélène in the past. The crew from WSP, which will carry out the work, will review existing data on the lake's hydrology by taking surface water samples.

The work will take place during the day, supervised by our project superintendent. Access to the lake will be by snowmobile via public land on the north shore of the lake.

As part of the exploration program to develop the Wasamac underground mining project, geophysical work will be done by helicopter in early April 2021 in the vicinity of the Wasamac mining property in Evain. A map of the area flyover area is available on the www.consultationswasamac.com platform.

The survey work will be carried out by Novatem Airborne Geophysics. The average altitude will be 18 metres on unobstructed routes. Where dwellings are present, the helicopter will increase its altitude to 90 metres over the buildings and will fly at an average speed of 125 km/hr. The aircraft used by the company is equipped with the quietest technology. The work will take place over a period of approximately one week.

The specialized acoustics company hired by Yamana Gold has completed the installation of sound level meters at various locations in the preferred areas where exploration activities will begin in March 2021. These state-of-the-art instruments are used to measure the current ambient noise level as well as that of exploration work is in progress.

It was important for our team to take sound measurements before exploration so that we could compare the results with those obtained when work commences. We are aware that in the past, the work (particularly the noise) may have created inconveniences for the neighborhood. The data we collect will allow us to adjust our practices and measures to minimize the impact of drill noise in the vicinity. Acoustic screens will also be installed at various locations to mitigate possible sound pollution.

We look forward to neighbourhood collaboration from the moment the work begins to ensure monitoring and follow-up of the exploration work. We invite area residents to give us feedback so that we can make changes in response to reports we receive.

If you have any questions or comments on noise monitoring and mitigation measures, or any other matter relating to the Wasamac underground mining project, please contact us at:
