March 2026 Neighbourhood meeting

The Wasamac Mining Project team met with community members during a neighbourhood information session held on March 26, 2026, in Évain. Two sessions were offered: an afternoon session at Salle du Cinquantenaire and an evening session at the Salle du Club de l’Âge d’Or Bon Accueil. Approximately 30 people attended the event.

The purpose of the session was to present the revised Wasamac Mining Project, provide information on the advanced exploration program, the Environmental and Social Impact Assessment, and the various good neighbour initiatives, and gather community feedback and concerns to inform the ongoing impact assessment.

The event began with a project presentation, followed by discussions at themed information booths where participants could speak directly with project team members based on their interests. The booths covered five topics:

Transportation
Neighbourhood and community relations

Attendees were able to review posters, maps, and other visual materials to gain a better understanding of the project and ask questions of the project team.

Discussions focused in particular on ore transportation and road safety. Participants expressed concerns about increased traffic, truck noise, the use of engine brakes, cyclist and pedestrian safety, and the risk of accidents at certain intersections. Questions were also raised about the anticipated number of trucks and potential improvements to the road network.

Other concerns related to the project's potential impacts on residential wells and groundwater, vibrations associated with blasting activities, traffic on Rang Wasamac and Rang des Cavaliers, and possible pressure on local services. Several participants also sought additional information about the voluntary acquisition program and the future of properties that have already been acquired.

Participants emphasized the importance of maintaining regular and transparent communication with neighbouring residents throughout the project's development.
