Wasamac gold mine project near Rouyn-Noranda in northern Quebec Located 15 km west of Rouyn-Noranda between the boroughs of Évain and Arntfield, the mining project will mine a gold deposit over a period of at least 10 years with a potential for development that could exceed 15 years and the possibility of creating 300 jobs. The approach taken to the development of the Wasamac project advocates respect for the environment at all stages of the process, owing to bold and innovative methods that include intelligent ventilation, electrification of equipment, automation, and remote operation via an underground LTE network.Regarding tailings disposal, we anticipate that some 30% would be reused as backfill for the galleries after the ore has been extracted. The rest would be used for dry stacking, a process by which the tailings are dried before being stacked and then gradually revegetated.The Project would have the following notable characteristics:An underground electric conveyor, fans and crusher for ore extraction to reduce GHG emissions, noise and dust emissions.A process plant with a daily capacity of 7,500 tons of ore treatment, located away from the neighbourhood and with independent access from Route 117.A filter press plant for the tailings facility to reduce its footprint and increase its safety. Project Description

The Wasamac mining project is subject to a provincial and federal environmental assessment. These procedures guarantee a rigorous framework that combines the knowledge of experts, citizens, and First Nations. 

Environmental Assessment 

The Wasamac team is currently planning the first phase of the Exploration Program on our property, with an expected start date in March 2021. The exploration work aims to learn more about the geological features of the deposit in order to better plan the Wasamac mining project and determine its feasibility and potential lifespan.  For this program, properties have been pre-identified for exploration. Below, you will see the map of preferred zones for the exploration campaign. The dates and location of the exploration work will be specified in a notice sent to the City of Rouyn-Noranda at least 30 days before work begins. The notice will also be posted on this platform.The Wasamac mining project is currently in the pre-project phase. During exploration, our team is committed to: Implementing best practices to mitigate the impact of our activities on the environment and the vicinity;Compensating and indemnifying in a fair manner any landowners where work is being done, which would involve taking every necessary measure to leave the premises in an acceptable condition after completing the work;Suggesting a participative approach, in cooperation with neighbouring residents, to surveillance and monitoring of exploration activities. Our team has already informed the owners of land on which work will be done. The team has also collected their suggestions and comments so that they can be considered as we finalize an agreement guide. The guide will list the conditions under which exploration activities will be carried out, along with planned coexistence measures. An adjustment period is built  into the initial work startup to ensure compliance with neighbourhood coexistence measures. Based on comments received, we will ensure that we make any changes required to rectify a situation.
